Globally, 783 million people are struggling with chronic hunger. We know that God’s plans for his people are to prosper us and give us hope for the future. But without the proper tools and the ability to adapt to changing weather patterns, many communities around the world will continue to experience the pains of hunger.
World Renew understands that God calls us to extend his justice and mercy to people who are hungry. With your support, we are planting seeds of hope to end hunger for good. Families are working to transform their traditional farming practices, access new markets to sell their fish and produce, and invest in sustainable agriculture. With new skills and opportunities, they can watch as their farms and families flourish.
You are invited to join the fight to end world hunger. Let’s commit to seeing a world where food abounds for all, and everyone has enough. Your gift will help World Renew provide vulnerable communities with long-term solutions to ending hunger.
Here are some ways your gifts help share God’s hope with families facing hunger:
Aquaponics
Often built alongside fish tanks, these sustainable growing systems help families to meet their food needs and increase their income—even in the most arid regions. Vegetable seedlings are planted inside containers with minimal soil and are constantly watered by an irrigation system. The water flows from a tank filled with fish that carries the fish droppings to fertilize the plants.
Sustainable Agriculture
From kitchen gardens to drip irrigation, sustainable agriculture methods vary between communities. Families receive training on crop diversification, soil coverage, the use of natural fertilizers, and how to properly use tools to cultivate their crops amid climate change.
Fishponds
Raising fish to eat and sell is an incredible business opportunity. Ponds can be concrete, earthen, or plastic, and are tailored to local fish species. Once ponds are filled, families receive training in fish-raising techniques and how to start a small business to sell surplus at a local market.
