Harvey continues to drop incredible amounts of rain in and around the Houston, Texas, area. The situation is changing each day, and the related flooding has put thousands of people at the mercy of air and water evacuation crafts. The National Weather Service in Houston reported that, “After checking the rain gauge, a new daily rainfall record was set at 16.08 inches, beating yesterday’s record of 14.40 inches.”
Houston alone has received half of its annual rainfall over the weekend.
“This will be an event to remember, and we can already tell that World Renew volunteers will be working for many months to help Texans who are in the most need as a result of the hurricane,” said Bob Laarman, World Renew Disaster Response Services (DRS) director. “Our focus is on the survivors who are under-resourced and do not have the means to recover on their own. Please pray. Please give generously to bring hope not only now, but in the months and years to come.”
Laarman and DRS regional managers will travel to the Houston and Corpus Christi areas to begin planning recovery efforts in coordination with other local, regional, and national organizations.
