Cambodia
World Renew has been working in Cambodia since 1972.

WHAT WE DO
The people of Cambodia have been left with a daunting legacy. Three years of devastation under the Pol Pot regime saw one-third of its people die, followed by another 15 years of civil war. Since the first election in 1993, the country has worked hard to rebuild and retrain communities and restore confidence and trust in leadership. World Renew is careful not to dominate the development process. Through training in governance, sustainable livelihoods, food security, health, and education World Renew supports the local people to make their own decisions and take initiatives that are most important to them.

COUNTRY COVID UPDATE
After a visit from the Hungarian Foreign Minister (who tested Covid+) on November 3, 2020, four people in Cambodia tested positive and over 2,500 people were forced into quarantine. Up to that point, Cambodia has only recorded 302 cases of the virus and the government as well as key stakeholders continue proactively working together to manage the situation well.
World Renew continues our work in accordance with all government-mandated guidelines.
Poverty around the world has only grown more pronounced because of COVID-19. Some estimates say humanitarian progress has been set back 25 years by this pandemic. Your gifts to Cambodia go straight towards allowing World Renew to continue and, hopefully, scale up our programming in response. We can’t meet these needs without you.
