OUR DISASTER RESPONSE SERVICES

Help support communities & build a culture of resilience and preparedness for the unexpected.

Every year, North Americans are affected by both natural disasters and human-caused disasters. They come in many different forms including earthquakes, floods, fires, hurricanes and more.

These natural disasters don’t just affect communities physically, but they are likely to also cause severe and long-lasting emotional and psychological trauma for the people who have survived them.

Mission of World Renew DRS

  • To live out God’s love and share hope with disaster-impacted communities in North America by joining in the restoration of homes and lives of those who are most vulnerable.
  • To support under-resourced communities as they build capacity to prepare for and recover from a variety of disasters.
  • To provide opportunities for people to glorify God by using their time, talents and financial resources in service with others.

How we offer help

We cannot stop disasters from happening, but we can offer our knowledge & expertise in preparedness, and recovery.

Over the last decade, World Renew supporters have met the needs of 1 million disaster survivors, providing more than immediate relief. Here’s how.

Needs assessment

We offer help to communities by helping them identify their most pressing needs and establishing mechanisms to help support reparations.

Clean-up and debris removal

In the aftermath of destruction, volunteers help by mucking out flooded homes, removing downed trees, completing minor repairs, and tarping roofs after a disaster.

Long-term support

Our ultimate goal is to help rebuild communities impacted by disasters to be stronger and healthier, in order to successfully withstand future disasters independently.

Impact on the under resourced

For those already lacking key resources to lead a healthy and sustainable life, disasters only make problems worse. When a small amount of money is already stretched to cover bills, pay for food, and more, important needs are unmet when the results of a disaster require financial give.

Impact on those with critical needs

For those who are suffering from health issues and are depending on medications, for example, those suffering with diabetes and more, won’t have access to the resources they need to survive.

This is why a community development approach is a core part of World Renew, as well as our natural disaster response services.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”

– Psalm 46:1-3

Our partnerships

Through partnerships we successfully & effectively help communities impacted by disasters

We believe that working together towards a common vision is the fuel to effectively getting the right help and resources to the right people at the right time.

We partner with other churches and organizations to maximize our work for the better.

The impact of climate change

Climate change is here – what does that mean?

Because of climate change, disasters are more frequent, more severe, and impacting more under-resourced and vulnerable communities.

How you can help

Donations, Volunteering & Advocacy

The impact of disasters can be felt for weeks, months and even years after the disaster strikes. Rebuilding takes a lot of time, effort, and resources.

A crucial way to help families and communities is by volunteering through group programs or facilitated sites to repair homes impacted by disasters. Your time spent working on a disaster survivors home will transform their situation and life.

Donating to help families affected by these disasters, as well as raising awareness through advocacy can go a long way to help. Your donations will go straight to support our disaster response services in North America, helping families and communities recover from hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and more.
