World Renew has been working in Honduras since 1974.
With the disaster of Hurricane Mitch in 1998, it has been estimated that Honduras regressed economically about 20 years. As a result, World Renew expects to continue its work to improve the spiritual and economic well being of low-income families in both rural and urban centers.
COVID COUNTRY UPDATE
Through a World Renew Rapid Response grant, our team in Honduras has launched work with three of our partners in order to reach 2,638 families with information about COVID-19, 476 families with hygiene kits to prevent the virus’ spread, and partner staff with personal protective equipment to ensure that they can continue their important work safely.
While the government has begun designing a plan to open businesses and lift some physical distancing restrictions in June, late May saw the highest number of reported cases to date and much remains uncertain. Mobility restrictions and masks are still mandated throughout the country.
