World Renew has been working in Laos since 1997, striving to improve lives and communities with development initiatives such as agriculture training, clean water systems, and literacy classes.
Laos, or the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia. With a diverse landscape featuring mountains, upland plateaus, and lowland plains, the country is also home to a diverse population consisting of many ethnic groups. World Renew works with its local partner in the area to implement community development work in rural communities, providing resources and training on health, agriculture, education, infrastructure, and leadership capacity.

“My mother is no longer addicted to opium, after 9 years! This is the biggest freedom for our family. . . After the 6 months of drug rehab with World Renew, she is fully off drugs. She has a new life. . . [She’s] able to be a vital part of our family and our village. She is a role model for our village, proving that sobriety is possible.”
