World Renew has been working in Syria since 2012, assisting families and vulnerable people displaced by the Syrian civil war by providing humanitarian assistance.
More than 12 million Syrians have been forced to leave everything they know behind in search of safety—whether within Syria or to neighbouring nations. Since the war began in 2011, between 400,000 to 500,000 people have been killed. During the height of the humanitarian crisis in February 2023, powerful earthquakes struck Türkiye and Syria, resulting in thousands of deaths and millions displaced. With more than 90 percent of Syrians living in poverty, economic hardship has compounded the disastrous impact of the earthquakes. As the conflict continues into its 14th year, the situation in the country has improved very little. Food production has hit a record low, and prices for everyday essentials have skyrocketed. World Renew and its local partner work to improve Syrian families’ living conditions by distributing vital food assistance, much-needed winter items, and other essential items for families.
Disaster Response
“We feel like we are not alone in this, and we are overwhelmed to know that people everywhere in the world still feel for us . . . and have it on their hearts to support us.”
