World Renew has been working in Tanzania since 1993, supporting local communities as they improve their food security, boost their economic livelihoods, and advocate for the most vulnerable families.

WHAT WE DO

Tanzania shares its borders with eight African countries and is home to Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Despite its natural beauty, Tanzania still struggles with poverty and inequality. The country has experienced economic growth in recent decades, but 27 percent of the population still live below the poverty line. World Renew works alongside communities to improve farming practices, boost local food security, and help families establish new livelihoods to create better income. Along with its Tanzanian partners, World Renew also provides special support for widows, orphans, and people living with HIV and AIDS.

Renewing Hope: Changing Stories of Poverty

“All my children go to school; I can buy their school uniforms and send them to hospital when they get sick. Because of applying good agricultural practices we learned from World Renew’s project, we are now having more yields. We have enough food at home; we are having three meals or even extra meals per day.”

– Herman “Kehula” Luboyelwa, farmer and father
