In response to growing need in Syria and the region, World Renew is partnering with local organizations within Syria and in the Bekaa Valley region of Lebanon.
Within Syria, the response is focused on providing assistance through local churches (of all denominations) to those in need – including food assistance, rent assistance, bedding and hygiene items to families, as well as health and counseling services.
World Renew is also supporting a major project being implemented by Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB), partner Mennonite Central Committee Canada, and their local partners on the ground within Syria through a financial contribution of $100,000. This project will provide food assistance to at least 5,000 displaced families within Syria to help them through the winter.
In Lebanon, World Renew is working with local partners to reach refugees and is hoping to set up a food assistance project. The need for food and other supplies, such as bedding and kitchen utensils, is extremely high throughout the region as humanitarian organizations struggle to respond to the staggering numbers of displaced families and communities.
World Renew has received support for the ongoing response in Syria from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada and the Reformed Church in America. Additional funds, however, are still urgently needed.
