VILLAGE SAVINGS AND LOAN ASSOCIATIONS
Start something communities can bank on. Help create village savings and loan associations when banks are not available.
Village Savings and Loan Associations are changing the story of poverty, one small deposit at a time!
The Village Savings and Loan (VSLA) program is an integral part of World Renew’s ministry. Our model is vital to helping families to find their footing as they journey to income security. As people who live in poverty do not have access to banks or formal lending programs, VSLAs assist communities directly.
When you give a gift to help start a Village Savings and Loan Association through World Renew, local families learn to manage their group, pool their money in a joint savings account, approve small business loans at reasonable interest rates, hold each other accountable, and build hope for a better future.
Families like Hosneyara’s in Bangladesh, who has started a snack-selling business with the help of a small loan. Today, in partnership with her husband, Hosneyara’s business thrives and she is giving back to her community by hiring local women to help her make goods to sell. Read more of her story here.
Hosneyara’s story is one of many lives transformed through VSLAs. Join us in standing with mothers, farmers, small business owners, and communities!
“Our VSLA is very good because we save, and at the end of the year, we get dividends, and this money really helps us. I am glad I’m not as stressed as I used to be because of the financial struggle I had. Even my husband appreciates how much this group has been beneficial to our family. I have even bought goats, a cow, and chickens, which I can also sell to get some more money.”
