In the last several weeks, the eyes of the world have been on Israel and Palestine. Our hearts break for the thousands of civilians who have lost their lives across the region. We ask our Heavenly Father to comfort those who mourn and implore God’s protection and provision for innocents caught in the crossfire.
World Renew holds firm the conviction that we are all image bearers of God and are deserving of dignity, protection, justice, mercy, and love. We humbly seek to follow in the footsteps of Jesus who taught us: “Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
We urge all parties to allow and ensure humanitarian access for food, water, medical attention, and other life-saving interventions for all those affected by this conflict. We urge the immediate safe release of all civilian hostages and the avoidance of collective punishment or civilian targets. We implore all parties to cherish God-given human life, regardless of race or religion, and call upon world leaders to seek peaceful resolutions to the conflict.
As a Christian humanitarian organization committed to sharing God’s love and hope with all those who lack access to the necessities of life, struggle with hunger, poverty, and the overwhelming hardships that natural disasters and human conflict can create we want our words to be clothed with actions wherever possible.
We are mindful that there are tremendous needs in Israel and Palestine. As a humanitarian organization we work where we are invited, where the needs are greatest, and where local authorities may not be able to be relied upon for relief or capable of an adequate response without external involvement.
