Flood Response: Home Repairs
There are still over 2,000 homes in need of assistance with reconstruction from flooding in 2014 in the Detroit, Michigan area.
Skill Set Needed:
We do everything from roofs, insulation, sheetrock, trim, flooring, painting, siding, windows, electrical, plumbing and kitchen cabinets. Groups that have a couple of skilled carpenters will be well off if the rest of the group is willing to learn.

High school age, youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Possible Work Projects
General reconstruction work; sheet-rock install/finish, painting, replace trim, flooring. There may still be some muck and gut situations.
Accommodations and Meals
Several churches in the area have offered to house volunteers. The volunteer coordinator will determine where you will stay depending on the size of your group, group’s skills and community need. All facilities will provide floor space (20 cots available), restrooms/showers (YMCA or Health Centers), and a kitchen to prepare your own meals.
$25/person/night. Your group is responsible for all costs associated with your trip. World Renew DRS does not charge for arranging group mission trips.
Tools and Materials
All materials are provided. Tools can be provided if needed. However, if volunteers have access to tools, please bring them with you.
Things to Bring:
- Bedding: sleeping bag/pillow/sheets/blanket
- Towel and bathroom items
- Work clothes
- Closed-toe shoes for job sites
- At least one pair of jeans/pants for some job sites
- Work gloves
- Casual clothing for “down-time”
- Bug spray
- Games/Frisbee/free time stuff
- Cooler with drinks for your job site
