WHAT WE DO

Guatemala is the most populous country in Central America and retains a distinct influence from its Indigenous peoples, primarily living in its interior uplands. Since gaining independence from Spain in the 1820s, the country has had a long history of government conflict. A 36-year civil war ended in 1996, and Guatemala has worked to make political strides to end years of violence, corruption, and poverty. With its local partners, World Renew works in Guatemala to implement programs primarily focused on agricultural training, community health, support for youth, and leadership capacity.
